If you love earrings and cats (or dogs) ~ take a look at the Beaded Tail on Etsy. I was alerted to the site by a blogging friend and adore the beautiful jewelry sold there. What a combination: cats and beautiful jewelry, some vintage beads ~ and modestly priced too. And the good news is if you make a purchase you are supporting animal awareness causes at the same time:
BeadedTail’s Shop Announcement ♥♥We make beaded jewelry for animal lovers with a portion of ALL sales proceeds benefiting animal awareness causes
So today I purchased a beautiful pair of earrings called Indigo Kitty. They are made up Swarovski Night Sky Pearls and Vintage Lucite hand-painted cat beads with a sterling silver surround. Apparently the cats were hand-painted inside the glass bead used a tiny curved brush. They look exquisite in the photo so now I’m just waiting for the postman to deliver them!
PS: Last but NOT least. Today would have been my beloved grandfather’s birthday so I will be holding him in my thoughts, and in my heart especially all day. He would have been 101 today ~ but since he lived to be over 100 years old it is hard to mourn the loss of an extra year ~ the quality of life for the very elderly is generally poor, however much we try not to make it so. Today I shall try to feel celebratory for a life well lived, as well as sad for loss of Grandad, because he was lucky enough to have 100 years and 4 months of life ~ and he enjoyed almost every moment. Not many people can say that.
Wherever you are Grandad, know you are loved and missed always. RIP.
(Thank you Zoolatry for the collage)

PS: I signed an important legal document today for my Barrister, and I’ve a feeling that the fact that it was signed (quite by chance) on my beloved Grandad’s birthday means he is looking out for me. I am sure that this is a very auspicious day! Thank you for being my Guardian Angel Grandad.

Hi Jan -
I’m so glad you liked the earrings! (and of course, it’s perfectly fine to use the photo.) FYI, Sharla can also do custom requests if she has the beads in stock – she made my pair that way.
I’m also glad I found your blog. That is a wonderful photo collage of your grandfather.
All the best,
Katie

Love the collage of your Grandad. My maternal Grandfather’s name was also Jack, as is one of my nephews who was named after him. It’s still a grand old name, isn’t it?

The earrings are adorable and your grandfather was a handsome man, wasn’t he?

Those earrings are the cutest. I have seen BeadedTails jewelry and I love it, unfortunately I can’t wear jewelry. I am allergic to metal.
I love the Collage of pictures that Zoolatry put together for you. Very nice and a good way to remember him.
