WE HOPE ALL YOU CAT LOVERS and CATS HAVE A WONDERFUL CELEBRATORY DAY!
All of my regular readers will know I just adore my two cats: Milo and Alfie ~ and of course all my beloved cats that went before them. But not all of you may have realised that today is World Cat Day; a day set aside to celebrate all things cat and to fuss and spoil your own cat or cats too. In celebration of WCD would you please consider doing one of the following:
-
Make a donation to help homeless cats in your area ~ there is bound to be a charity shop or rescue centre near you. No amount is too small.
-
Donate something you no longer want to a Cats Protection charity shop ~ or similar in your area. Not only does it help you get rid of clutter but it is also eco-friendly to recycle, and the proceeds when the item is sold will benefit homeless cats. Imagine the feel good factor!
-
Or you might have some kitten toys that your cats no longer play with that homeless kitties would love ~ donate them to your local cat rehoming centre.
-
Or make a purchase from a Cats Protections charity shop ~ or similar in your local area ~ they sell all sorts of things (new as well as old!) The profit will go to helping homeless cats.
-
If you’ve always wanted a cat but don’t want to make a big commitment ~ consider fostering homeless cats while they are waiting to be re-homed. It’s such a rewarding thing to do and it means you can have the joy of a cat without the commitment.
-
Or go the whole hog and fill your life with joy by adopting a homeless cat yourself. Don’t make such a decision lightly though because a home should be forever and there are lots of factors to consider before you make the big decision (VETS bills, food, holiday arrangements etc). However if you are prepared to take on an older cat some rehoming centres will pay the vets bills and help you for the duration of the cat’s life.
Zoolatry made the wonderful collage below ~ Milo and Alfie are top left!

Pop over to Zoolatry to see the wonderful WCD celebrations!
You might also like to take 5 minutes to look at Milo and Alfie’s own blog!
Oh, and take a look at my beautiful boys yesterday:

Alfie: Born (approximately) 1st September 2008 (from Cat's Protection rescue centre)

................................

That video is priceless, Jan. As are the others on the boys’ blog. (The pedant in me has to ask…is that apostrophe correctly placed?) I love the way they both seem so willing to oblige you with a few seconds of film at a time, but you just know that that’s *all* you’re going to get. Thanks for the smile…:)

Hi Shady,
Glad it made you smile! Re the
apostropheexclamation mark ~ I known for scattering them like confetti! LOL!By: Author on August 8, 2009

Brilliant. As long as it’s there, and in what feels like the right place, I’m not overly bothered either, but I wasn’t sure in that context. Plural possessive is after the s, I guess. (That feels right, anyway.)

I just suddenly realised that I had misunderstood you. I was referring to exclamation marks, not apostrophes.
I am strict about apostrophes and understand them well (having taught advanced level English for years) ~ however sometimes the speed of typing amd insufficient time spent proof reading will mean they slip into the wrong place un-noticed.
Which one are you referring to, I’m intrigued?

My possessive when referring to the “boys’ blog”- after the s, or before the s? Plural possessive shouldn’t be a grey area, but I was slightly confused.

Plural possessive is after the S ~ e.g. the cat’s tail (singular) The cats’ tails (plural as in more than one cat!)
Or of course an apostrophe of ommission ~ e.g. wouldn’t it be fun (instead of would not it be fun)
So: the boys’ blog (if two male cats) the boy’s blog (if one male cat) ~ OK?
But since I said Milo and Alfie’s blog (Alfie is singular as there is only one of him!) it was in the right place!
LOL!

Interesting..sorry for diverting the discussion.
(Will bear this conversation in mind in future…at least I’ll be able to smile and remember the hilarious way in which I came to understand the placement of a possessive apostrophe! Thanks, Jan.

Love the kitty collage. Your gray cat looks like one we used to have, the kids named him Tiger even though he had no stripes at all! We thought Smoky would have been more fitting. My daughter has an all white cat named Mr. Boo who we often kittysit. Thanks for your kind words today:)

Wow. An entertaining movie of the adorable Milo and Alfie and an English lesson! Fabulous! What’s a day without a little smacky paw?
I did not know you taught English, Jan. Now I know who to call when I’m confused about Who and Whom!
