Fancy a challenge?

The Write a Short Story meme

Henry James said of the short story:”Make it tremendously succinct–with a very short pulse or rhythm–and the closest selection of detail–in other words summarize intensely and keep down the lateral development. It should be a little gem of bright, quick, vivid form. I shall get every grain of ‘action’ that the space admits…”

  • Anyone can join in.
  • The story must be your own original work and not previously published.
  • The length can be anything from a couple of sentences to approx 1500 words.
  • There is no time limit for entries!
  • Add the typewriter image to the top of your story when you post it.
  • Add a link to this blog post so we can all enjoy reading your short story!

~

PS: I’ll add a link to my short story in the comments below, when I’ve written it! :-)

  2. Let me see if I have this straight. I write the story on my site, then I link it to your site (this page) and somehow it gets posted over here?

This one might be a bit tricky for me.

  3. No Don – you post it on your blog and link here (as in any other meme) then people reading my blog can read your short story by following the link back to your blog! Comprende?

  4. I believe I have it figured out now, but I am concerned about one thing ….. “Will I get one of those Rockin’ Girl Blogger” deals if it is a hit?

  5. No Don, no chance – unless you have a sex change!!!!

But you may get a “Short Story Writing Award” from me!!! On the other hand you might not! It depends …

  6. ROFL! I’m so glad you clarified things Author!

  7. Okay it is up such as it are.

Think it is about 675 words and it has the “typewriter” image on it as suggested.

The title of it is “Who Am I”
