A picture’s worth a 1000 words (beautiful poems accompany Cordie’s photos this week)

Lou of BlahBlahblog is still away travelling in Malawi  but you might like to read her blog (posted in absentia)

I love clouds and taking photos of them – and I was hoping to snap a new photo of really interesting clouds for this week’s Photo Friday. However, all did not go according to plan! There was a paucity of interesting cloudy skies – and then when I did see a really interesting cloud shape – in my rush to snap it with my camera, I managed to blur it! Such is life. I’m going to post it anyway (apologies for the poor quality of the pic!) So, as Tina would say, without more ado:

Seagull Cloud- taken last weekend in Sidmouth hovering over Lyme Bay. The seagull has its wings spread out and it’s head turned to the right of the picture. Can you make it’s beak and tail shape? I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it – it was huge by the way – it stretched right across Lyme Bay. Such a pity I blurred it!

Below, Clouds on Budleigh Salterton beach at dusk – what do you make of the cloud shape on the left of the photo?

And OK – it’s not a cloud – BUT when we visited Sidmouth a couple of years ago to find a property, we were very uncertain about our decision to move. It was a huge relocation for us - a 160 miles from our friends and most of our family. I can recall sitting outside (after viewing the property we went on to buy) discussing whether or not moving to Sidmouth was the right move. Suddenly, my husband P pointed into the air and said: “X marks the spot! So it must be the right place!” I grabbed the camera and quickly took the photo below – the X in the sky was right over the house we went on to buy. And 2 years later? Yes, it was the right move!

These are sites I came across on the Internet with absolutely inspirational photos of CLOUDS. Do take a look if you have time:

Oh! And one more photo! P says this photo he took of me, sums me up – because I’m sitting on the fence with my head in the clouds!

  1. Oh I am loving the picture of you with your head in the clouds!!!

How cool that you found that seagull.

I also adore the X in the sky, marking where to get your home. What a confirmation of the right thing.

  2. Thanks Tina! The X was fascinating – I know it was vapour trail but I’ve never seen a cross before AND at just the right moment!

  4. Wow – the feelings evoked in the second shot – gorgeous. and that last photo is priceless.

  5. I can see the seagulls beak and tail very well, it must have been a sight spread out across the sky like that.

The X marks the spot is exactly what I was thinking when I first saw the picture, before I read about it. That is a sign if I ever saw one!

The head in the clouds picture is a funny one…but then I find myself with my head in the clouds a lot, I just love to watch them move and make shapes.

  8. Great pictures Jan, that picture of you too is lovely. I love clouds believe it or not and we are members of the cloud society. I take pictures of them all the time but I haven’t really posted any in case someone said “its just a cloud’ But you have inspired me so I think I will do a post with some of my cloud pictures. :-)

    Priceless huh? Moi?

    Melanie,
I’m glad you thought it a sign too! We did!

    Mrs Nascar,
I just so wish I hadn’t blurred it!

    Mark,
Belonging to the cloud society – that is so COOL! You must put some piccies on your blog for us to see. How brilliant!

  10. All of these are absolutely beautiful and stunning. I really like the way that cloud formed what I saw as an Angel; it’s such a beautiful photo! Also, the picture of you is very beautiful; you’re so lovely. Either would make an excellent painting for a home in Sidsmouth or in Richmond or anywhere! Thanks for taking out the time to bring us such fab picture each week – all desktop and home worthy! Asking permission to use the 2nd pic with the angel for my computer desktop; hope you don’t mind! PLL, as always – me.

  11. P.S. If you say yes, could you please send me the link to the larger pic if there is one so that it won’t be distorted on the desk top? Usually we have to scale the pics down a bit. I’m hoping this was the case, so that I can use it without distortion. Again, thanks! PLL, CordieB.

  12. Hi Cordie,
Of course you can have a larger copy of the Angel pic. I will try to send the larger image as an e-mail attachment – if it is too big for you to receive in your inbox let me know and I’ll think of another way.
I am so glad you thought the shape an Angel – I did too but wanted to see if anyone else agreed.

    PLL Jan

Sorry I was late on mine…I posted it ahead of time, but messed up the date! Check it out!
