Jan Marshall – Author of A Curious State of Affairs (UK & USA) talks about the phenomenal sales of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:
Well I purchased my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows yesterday and have been enjoying the read so far – but I was staggered (although not completely surprised) to read in Today’s Sunday newspapers that – 3 million other people did the same, apparently here in the UK – one in every 43 households has purchased a copy! The book is flying around the UK faster than a Nimbus 2000. One of our well known book chains, Waterstones, said there was a queue of more than 250,000 muggles (many dressed as witches and wizards) outside their doors at midnight awaiting access to the book. There were 7000 outside the Piccadily, London branch alone! Another big bookstore chain said they were selling 15 copies of the new book every second.
Well, all of these sales does lead one to ponder – Who is the most powerful magician at Hogwarts? The answer is clearly J K Rowling since she was able to turn a simple biro and a notepad into £540 million – now that is magic!
If there ever is another book – it should be called: Harry Potter and the Great Wodges of Cash.
Meanwhile, I probably wont spend much time on the computer today – I’ll be too busy reading my new book!
The greatest magician at Hogwarts – J K Rowling.

You said it, Girl! She’s a magician all right! And about that follow-up work… maybe YOU are the one to do that, Jan!
I know it wouldn’t be me… I can’t stand Harry Potter!
(See why I never made it as an author?)
